Lake Isabella Fishing Derby: Held each spring. Call the Kern River Valley Chamber of Commerce at 760-379-5236.
Lake Isabella Kids Fishing Derby: A free event held each summer for children ages 4-15 with lunch and drinks provided, as well as a raffle, trophies, a casting contest and other events and prizes. The event coincides each year with the California Department of Fish and Game's free fishing day when licenses are not required. Registration is Friday before the event or early morning the Saturday of the contest. Call the nonprofit Fish and Game Habitat Club at 760-376-2804.
Trout Derby: Held at the Buena Vista Aquatic Recreational Area in November. Call the Taft Chamber of Commerce at 765-2165.
