The Arthritis Association Adaptive Aquatics Center is an independent, non-profit organization located in Bakersfield, California. The Center provides warm water, land, support and educational services to over 200 people a day ranging in ages of 6 months to 90+ years old. The majority of clients are diagnosed with one or more disabling conditions, such as arthritis, fibromyalgia, cerebral palsy, back problems, prior stroke, spinal cord injuries, developmental delays, and orthopedic conditions.
The facility has a year-round, indoor heated pool with a spa and showers; as well as a conference and exercise room. The pool is equipped with a wheelchair ramp, accessible chair lift and sitting platform. We maintain the pool at an average temperature of 92 degrees and the spa is kept at a therapeutic 102 degrees.
They also offer a variety of land exercise programs, which are proven to promote health and relaxation. Currently we offer Swim Lessons, Fish & Friends Summer Day Camp, Tai Chi,Yoga, and Jazzercise classes, as well as Massage Therapy. The pool, exercise and conference rooms are available for parties, meetings and other rental needs.
