Bakersfield Fire Department
Under the supervision of Fire Chief Ron Fraze, the Bakersfield Fire Department furnishes a hazardous materials team, fire suppression services, emergency medical services, swift water rescue, technical rescue, heavy rescue, aggressive fire prevention, fire safety education and disaster preparedness. The BFD also runs the Bakersfield Citizen Emergency Training program and provides earthquake presentations to the public.

The KCFD provides fire protection in unincorporated areas of Kern County. Fire calls are dispatched by the same communications center shared by KCFD and BFD. Those wanting to know more about fire hazard reduction and other issues can call the KCFD during regular business hours.
