If you’ve moved within city limits you may wish to sign up for the curbside recycling service offered through the City of Bakersfield.  Besides being incredibly convenient, it provides an excellent way for you to recycle all of those boxes and newspapers without having to leave your own home.  Call 326-3114 for more information.

If you live in the unincorporated areas of Bakersfield, the county does not offer curbside recycling, but does maintain a number of drop-off locations for you to dispose of your packing materials.  These sites primarily accept newspaper, cardboard and other paper, aluminum and tin cans, glass and plastic bottles.  The City of Bakersfield publishes guidelines for getting the most from the recycling drop-off locations through proper preparation of the items prior to dropping them off.
