Kern Regional Transit is a bus service that provides transportation between Bakersfield and outlying Kern County cities.  They are equipped with 56 vehicles, ranging from 15-seat minibuses to 32-foot transit buses.  Kern Regional Transit’s local and intercity fixed routes go to Bakersfield from Boron, Delano, Frazier Park, Kern River Valley, Lamont, Lost Hills, McFarland, Mojave, Ridgecrest, Rosamond, Shafter, Taft, Tehachapi and Wasco. Connections are also available to Greyhound, Amtrak and the Metrolink in Lancaster.  Curb-to-curb Dial-A-Ride service is also available throughout Kern County, by calling the reservations number listed above.  For fares and schedules please check their web site or call the number listed above.

Fare: $32 one way, $54 round trip for adults,$17 one way, $29 round trip for children ages 6 to 12 years old, free for children 5 and younger. Departures from Bakersfield: 3:30 a.m., 6 a.m., 8 a.m., 11 a.m., 2 p.m., 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Departures from Los Angeles: 12:30 a.m., 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 4 p.m., 6:30 p.m., 8:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Travel time: about 2 1⁄2 hours.

To Los Angeles: Fare $19.50 one way, $38 round trip. Morning departures: 1:20, 1:35, 3, 8:50 and 9:50 a.m. Afternoon/evening departures: 12:15, 2:45, 3, 5:20, 6:40, 7:55, 8:45 and 11:15 p.m.

To Fresno: Fare $18.50 one way, $36 round trip. Morning departures: 3:10, 4:40, 4:45, 7:35, and 10:30 a.m. Afternoon/evening departures: 1:15, 4:20, 5:15, 5:35, 6:40, 7:30, 8:45, and 11:25 p.m.

Offers three departures per day, seven days a week, to Tijuana, Mexico: 11 a.m., 3:30 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. Entire bus route goes from Tijuana to Stockton, with stops in Los Angeles, Fresno, and Bakersfield. Fare from Bakersfield to stateline at Tijuana: $31.
