The Kern County Department of Public Health conducts immunization clinics regularly throughout the county. Immunizations are available for $13 each or a maximum of $40 per family visit for people 18 years of age and younger. Colleges are requiring college freshmen to be up-to-date on their hepatitis B vaccines. Some colleges are also requiring or highly recommending the meningococcal vaccine (MCV4) for entering freshmen who will be living in the dormitories. These vaccines are available at the county health department for $13 for people 18 and younger; $82 for people 19 and older.
