Even though my profile name is "WelcomeMatt," I am a female! My real name is Mary. I work for The Bakersfield Californian and I'm also a recent newcomer to Bakersfield. I moved from hometown of Santa Barbara, CA to Bakersfield in 2004, because of the affordable housing here. I hope you will enjoy living in Bakersfield as much as I have!

I am married to a wonderful man from Switzerland and our only children are 2 very spoiled cats. We live in Southwest Bakersfield, but in an older home we have been remodeling ourselves little by little. We've almost got it finished! I probably have been to every hardware, plumbing & home improvement store in town.
