Yeah I think a lot of cities are pretty diverse. The area around CSUB is a good neighborhood though. It's close to the Marketplace, which is one of the nicest places in town to shop and eat lunch. There's a Vons (aka Safeway), Blockbuster, movie theater and a cool bookstore (Russo's) there too. Great spot to live near. Welcome, and good luck on the move! Comment From: Seth

... I think I might have found a nice, four-bedroom house near campus that a friend at the University may rent to me. It's funny how variable the neighborhoods in Bakersfield are: some are very appealing, with manicured lawns and new-looking homes; some look like... well, let's be nice and just say they look "elegance-challenged." Welcome to Bakersfield! You mentioned you were looking for a place to live. The area around CSUB is actually a very desirable area of town since it is where there is a lot of development of new shopping and dining. You might want to check it out!
