This is a brief introduction about "us", even if it is entitled about me. We are a married couple living in the United Kingdom, and after spending time now chatting with people we have come to know in the US, we are seriously considering making a move to your country. We have always as kids, dreamed of living in the states, and now our children our grown up as such, and left home, we are albeit selfishly, thinking of ourselves

We have been running our own cleaning business for 25 years now, but for many years, I have developed and built up a fair repuation in computer and IT work, creating websites and working on ASP forum softwares. I am fairly adept with Microsoft Windows (well I've been using it since it was called Windows for Workgroups 3.11) and am reasonably able to sort most IT issues, whether it be in software or hardware. The cleaning business (although sometimes people will often say: "I'm just a cleaner") is a worthwhile vocation which even now, we still very much enjoy, but we are not sure how many ground floor properties you guys and girls have in that part of the country :) so we may very well have to try something completely new

Our aims are to:
Visit Bakersfield in California and spend about three weeks there initially, to (a) see if it is what we like (b) to see if there could be opportunities for us and (c) to clarify whether what we think we know, is in fact actually true

It may very well be impossible for us to actually come and live there as permanent residents because we are unsure of the immigration laws governing your country, but we would very much like to hear feedback and responses from residents of Bakersfield, who may have done this or have their own stories to tell

A good friend of ours tells us:

We would like to believe that "It’s better to have tried and failed at something than to have never tried at all" and so with that in mind, we are excited about having a go and are looking for ideas, support and information from residents and potential employers already there
