The North of the River Recreation and Park department tend to show free movies once a month or so in one of their parks. These are typically kid-oriented films, like "Shrek" and are part of a larger family fun night. For more information about their upcoming events you can go to http://www.norrecreation.org/. If you're looking for more adult fare, it's not free, but the Fox Theater frequently shows independent films as part of an arrangement with FLICS. Last I heard, these films are only $4 for admission. You can find out about their schedule by going to http://www.flics.org/. Finally, on the music front, were you aware that the Marketplace holds free concerts on Thursday evenings (I think they start around 7 p.m. or so) from May through Sepetmber?
